Inter State One-Day League 2012-13, Round-up, Feb 13: Match Report

In the North Zone matches of the Inter State One-day League 2012-13, Punjab, Delhi and Services registered victories over Haryana, J&K and Himachal respectively.

Punjab vs Haryana, Match 1 in Dharamsala: On the back of consistent performances in the Ranji Trophy 2012-13, Punjab carried their good form into the 50-over format of the game as well. They registered an emphatic ten-wicket win over Haryana at the HPCA Stadium.
After opting to bat first in the first game of the one-day league, Haryana were bowled out for a paltry 152 runs. After Siddharth Kaul dismissed the top three batsmen, Punjab’s Rajwinder Singh claimed a four-for, while Rahul Sharma chipped in with one wicket to wrap up the opposition in 45.5 overs. Punjab openers, Ravi Inder Singh (70) and Chandan Madan (69), then chased down the target in 29 overs.

Himachal v SSCB, Match 2 in Nandaun: Services beat Himachal by three wickets to kick off their domestic one-day tournament on a winning note.
After electing to bat first, Himachal posted 276 for eight in their allotted 50 overs. Although they lost both their openers early, Amit Kumar (57) and Rishi Dhawan (72) stabilised the innings and Sumeet Verma’s not out 47 lower down the order helped them set a competitive target. 
SSCB too lost their openers early in the innings, but middle-order batsmen Soumya Swain (63), Yashpal Singh (96) and Rajat Paliwal (41) ensured their team got over the line.
Delhi-V-J-and-K-Inter-State-One-Day-League-2012-13-Scorecard
DDCA v J&K, Match 3 in Bilaspur: Delhi beat J&K by four wickets at the Lohnu Cricket Ground. Chasing 246, Rajat Bhatia powered Delhi to victory with an unbeaten 91-ball 106. After Delhi lost their top three batters for 29 runs – and were later floundering on 59 for four – Milind Kumar and Rajat Bhatia came together to steady the innings with a 110-run partnership for the fifth wicket. After Kumar was trapped leg-before by A Zofi, Bhatia took the team across the line with the help of the lower-order batters. Bhatia also claimed two wickets earlier in the day.
Earlier, Ian Dev Singh struck 102* to take J&K to 245, after they were asked to bat in the 49-overs match, while opener Ahmed Omer added 50 runs to the total, before being sent back by Rajat Bhatia.

Propelled by Rohit Sharma’s magnificent double-century, India marched to a 153-run win in Kolkata. While Eden Gardens celebrated 150 years, Rohit lit-up the stadium with a well paced 264 off 173 to make the occasion memorable. In doing so, he etched his name in the history books by posting the highest individual score in ODI cricket and became the only batsman to post two double hundreds in the 50-over format till date.
